PlatinumGames Working on a Top-Secret Game that will “Turn the Action Genre on its Head”

Now, Throughout a panel in Bitsummit hosted in the Miyako Messe venue in Kyoto, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya along with Atsushi Inaba Spoke about several interesting topics related to the studio.

Asked about their favourite game genres, Inaba-san explained that he enjoys games with very comprehensive stories. In regards to hardcore actions games, they all’re in the minority of games which he enjoys. Kamiya-san explained that many of people believe he enjoys only action games, but whether they’re action games, shooters, or adventure games, it doesn’t thing. He simply likes games generally. He finished   Call of Duty for  your Nintendo DS.

In accordance with Kamiya-san, the secret to creating ideal combos for actions games is largely about letting the player becoming the character and allow them to feel as though they’re doing very cool moves, and also being accountable for that character actually makes them feel great.

In accordance with Inaba-san, individuals think that PlatinumGames make excellent combo-action games. Yet, that’s really not their goal, since they don’t really have things like meetings to pick the perfect combos. It simply comes naturally. Kamiya-san added that it’s exactly the same about making games. Many think that PlatinumGames is a studio dedicated to making action games, but they just set out to make the games that they like, and they become what lots of gamers like. Even though there’s a small discrepancy between what people believe they do and what they really do, it still’s still “a wonderful misconception,” as it results in a great deal of people liking PlatinumGames for its combos and activity into their games, and it helps inspire them as creators, even if it’s not intentional. They just need to create interesting games.

Inaba-san then explained that when he noticed the logo of Bitsummit Volume 6, then it reminded him of The Wonderful 101, that had been the sixth game that PlatinumGames was working on at the way that they number their projects chronologically. He recalls how fine it was to work on that. ” Yet, the programmers love that game, so it would be amazing to be able to release it around Nintendo Switch.

Kamiya-san subsequently asked the audience “If the Wonderful 101 came outside Switch, do you play it? ” and there have been quite a lot of favorable responses.

Inaba-san was asked how they remain competitive against western games and their large budgets. It’s so large that a studio may go bankrupt while still selling hundreds of copies. PlatinumGames prefers to possess a number of different budgets and content including some self-published games. Here is the most effective way for them to stay competitive and still keep their Platinum style intact.

Kamiya-san added it’s not really about the money, since it is possible to devote a lot of cash and think of a really crappy movie like Pacific Rim 2 (he included Inaba-san compelled him say that, and they laughed and explained it is actually a crappy movie). Just because you’ve got a great deal of money, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to generate a fantastic game. As a founder, sometimes you would like to produce small games, sometimes you need to create huge games, but none that is about budget, but it’s about creating the game which you need to make. Should you’re able to accomplish that, that’s the most important thing.

Kamiya-san is currently working on Bayonetta 3, plus that he’s quite excited to give more info about it in the future. Inaba-san explained there’s a lot of very interesting games that the studio is currently working on, however one of them is still an unannounced title that is probably going to be some thing fresh and revolutionary that we haven’t noticed before, and it’ll “turn into the action genre on its head.

He reasoned mentioning that at PlatinumGames they need to keep being original and creative. Seeing all the indie games at BitSummit motivates them to continue to compete and to get a starving mindset and keep on with their own innovation.
