Ten years before, the very first Record of Lodoss War publication by Ryo Mizuno, titled The Grey Witch, struck Japan by storm, bringing a notion of fantasy nearer to the classic Dungeons & Dragons compared to what the local crowd was used to.
After that, the franchise sparked novels, video games, a tabletop RPG, an OVA series that is regarded as one the classics of the nineties, a TV series, manga, and much more.
While keeping its status, the series kind of slipped beneath the radar, unbeknownst to the centuries. Yet, now that this series is now currently celebrating its thirtieth’ anniversary Kadokawa is ready to bring it back.
Since we’re create a gaming site, we’ll start with this. A side-scrolling action game code named only Record of Lodoss War is in development at Team Ladybug. You will know them for the enchanting Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue. Although there’s not any release window announced, the program is to get a release on Steam. You may view a trailer.
Beyond movie games, a brand-new book by Ryo Mizuno will eventually extend the Lodoss world in the winter 2018, and a new edition of the tabletop RPG is going to be published in Japan in the fall. A box with all the edition of the OVA series will start in the country on August 24th.
It’ll be certainly interesting to check whether Record of Lodoss War will figure out how to grab the spotlight again until all this time.
However, at least for me personally, it fails to capture the magic of their original Lodoss. I certainly hope to see this evolve to something bigger in the future.
