God of War was receiving massive praise by reviewers, including our own, but perhaps most interestingly of it’s getting compliments from its rivals. A recent tweet out of Executive Vice President of Gaming in Microsoft Phil Spencer and Head of both Xbox compliments the work put into the next episode of this franchise that is renowned, calling it a release for the series”.
Phil Spencer isn’t a stranger to praising rivals for a inventive unveiling or launches. Previously, he’s championed the idea that console wars have been unnecessary distractions–that programmers making their consoles fun places to play games. He’s also been quoted as stating video games are a very special art form capable of bringing individuals together.
While the Xbox One has difficulty competing with all the PS4’s ever-growing roster of console-exclusives, it’s still reassuring to see someone in this place of power try to promote camaraderie from the industry and promoting games as an art form or real supply of amusement. God of War and Santa Monica Studios certainly deserve the praise considering the incredible scores that the game has been receiving, but it’s nevertheless a kind and genuine gesture by a rival.
