Nintendo Says Labo’s Durability Will be Part of the fun

When it was originally unveiled, Nintendo Labo picked up grip since it came from nowhere and since it seemed like a very “Nintendo” action to take. It wasn’t, but before enthusiasts started to question the feasibility of costly cardboard cutouts. In a current investor Q&A,  Nintendo Director Shinya Takahashi explained why the group went with cardboard and how fun this cardboard is going to be.

“When we began with a “robot” prototype in the Business, we realized that the trial-and-error process of attaining a completed product was extremely Enjoyable

He then went on to explain what exactly was entertaining about it:

“That led our concept of Nintendo Labo to be developed just as a tool that people could enjoy in all of its facets, not only in playing the final product, but also in creating some fixes across the way and following it is full and in understanding the mechanisms. ”

The thought of cardboard, according to Takahashi-san, comes from Japanese culture wherein kids are accustomed to playing cardboard. While I myself might have played with cardboard boxes, plungers, and spatulas to create Dalek-esque mech suits, that cardboard was going to be recycled regardless.

These price points can now be viewed as something much more akin to Lego, instead of an easy-to-break AR experience. Though one only needs to step on a Lego bit wrapped to be ensured of the durability, the same has not yet been viewed from Nintendo’s upcoming product.

Nintendo has said that they will be supplying replacements for lovers who wreck their cardboard peripherals, it is not clear how expensive they’ll be the second, third, and also umpteenth occasions around.
