Battle Princess Madelyn is exactly what you get when a game programmer has a child and loves her so much he puts her in a game. It started as a Kickstarter project, which quickly met its funding goals, also is set to launch in February 2018. Now we got a slew of new screenshots.
Chris Obritsch of Casual Bit Games is a game developer with a young woman called Madelyn, and being a excellent dad, he put her in her own game. A significant inspiration from Ghouls and Ghosts can be observed instantly, with a very similar running and jumping animation, but instead of Arthur, the protagonist is a eldest young woman named Madelyn.
In the trailer found here, her armor changes depending on the degrees and equipment available. Different armor appears to have distinct moves connected with it. In accordance with Obritsch, the game will likely fluctuate from Ghouls and Ghosts in that players may return to previous levels to uncover hidden secrets. In that sense, it looks like Shovel Knight in which the initial idea is inspired by classics, but enlarged upon with 21st-century ideas.
Battle Princess Madelyn reached CA$212,665 on Kickstarter and is intended for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Steam, and a DRM-free PC version in February 2018. Other stretch targets attained include a PS Vita interface, a soundtrack, and a plushie of Madelyn.
