Right now it’s still December 31st from the west, but in Japan it’s 2018. Some of the most important publisher and developers in the archipelago of the rising sun decided to welcome the New Year (which in Japan is basically the most important holiday there’s) together with videos.
To start with, we get Bandai Namco, that set its important developers before a camera to want us all Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. We get one Kamehameha-style.
Arc System Works opted for a more conventional design, yet it wasn’t without a spin, with Guilty Gear series Director Daisuke Ishiwatari playing his electric guitar. Lately, 2018 is going to be the 10th anniversary of the Blazeblue series, the 20th anniversary of Guilty Gear as well as also the 30th anniversary of this studio. We get the tease of new games, and an “Arc System Works 30th Anniversary Festival” which is going to be held in May.
Last, but not least, is Koei Tecmo, which travelled with a very different approach and said farewell to 2017 by looking back into the veritable cornucopia of games that they released this calendar year, starting from NiOh to Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, there’s’s something for everyone. We get a nostalgic look in Dead or Alive 5: The Last Round, which is finally going the way of the dodo this season, after seven year moves.
It is possible to enjoy all of the movies below. And because it’s almost time, Happy New Year from all at DualShockers, to you! May 2018 be a year of better games.
