Nicalis revealed that the will release the retail version of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap for PlayStation 4 along with Nintendo Switch in the early quarter of 2018 for about $39.99.
Players will command a hero murdered by a dragon, who’s forced to reside in the form of a Lizard-Man and additional forms. His only hope would be to conquer the dragons.
“We are huge fans of the Wonder Lady series, also we all think that Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap deserves the whole physical retail treatment that was given to our own games like The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ along with Cave Story+,” says Nicalis CEO Victor Rodriguez. “We’ve got a profound regard for DotEmu; this is an exciting venture for us.”
“Thanks to Nicalis’ experience and enthusiasm for classic games, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap will be available on physical cartridges and disks in retail shops–just like in the previous times,” states DotEmu CEO Cyrille Imbert. “This is awesome! A complete retail launch of Lizardcube’s masterpiece is a superb way to reflect the soul of the game and its history.”
However, this is going to be the physical launch on the Nintendo Switch.
